· Born and raised in Lafayette, California · Graduate of Happy Valley Elementary School, Stanley Middle School, and Acalanes High School · Served as a peer tutor and Youth Educator at Acalanes. Was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and a three-sport varsity athlete · Majored in History at Harvard College and graduated with honors in 1999 · While at Harvard, developed curriculum and taught Writing, Reading, Journalism, and Math classes to children (ages 6-11) in the Fresh Pond Enrichment Program, instructed a first-grade class about non-violent alternatives to aggression through Peace Games, and mentored and tutored middle school students with learning disabilities for the Mission Hill After School Program. Also wrote for the Harvard Crimson, the campus daily newspaper. · Wrote, researched, and edited the biography of Frances Grant, one of Radcliffe College’s earliest African-American graduates. Project was underwritten by a grant from the Robert and Maurine Rothschild Foundation. · Founded Ivy Enrichment Learning Fall 2003 |
